Malangas sits in the interior of Zamboanga Sibugay, ringed by forested ridges and given over to farmland. It has no coastline — what it has is underground, agricultural and cultural.
Natural heritage
A cave system of chambers and passages with stalactite and stalagmite formations, reached on foot through forest. It sheltered residents during the Second World War. Both easier walk-through routes and more demanding spelunking are described by visitors.

Landscape
Malangas fronts the Moro Gulf on the south coast of Zamboanga Sibugay, spanning 235.53 km² across 25 barangays with a 2020 population of 32,022. Its municipal seal carries a crossed pick and shovel over mineral piles, a coconut palm on the shore, and a leaping fish.
